Guided Communion Service
Autoimmune Disease Communion
When your body fights against itself — come to the Table for peace, healing, and grace for the journey.
Welcome
Living with an autoimmune disease can feel like your body has become your enemy — attacking itself in ways you cannot control. The exhaustion, the pain, the unpredictability, the appointments, the medications, the questions without answers — it is a heavy burden to carry. This Communion service was prepared specifically for you.
Autoimmune diseases often come with a unique spiritual battle: the feeling that your body has betrayed you. But here is what the Word declares: you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Your body was not designed for destruction but for wholeness. At this Table, you bring your immune system, your inflammation, your fatigue, your pain — and you place it all before the One who knit you together.
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." — Psalm 139:14
Why This Communion Matters
Autoimmune disease attacks the physical body, but its effects reach the spirit. It can leave you feeling that your body is against you, that you cannot trust what you inhabit. Communion confronts that lie: your body is not your enemy. Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and the same power that raised Christ from the dead is at work within you.
At the Table, you exchange the narrative of "my body is failing me" for the truth: "my body is being restored by the One who made me." Jesus' body was broken so yours could be made whole. His blood was poured out to purchase complete redemption — including the redemption of your physical body.
Primary Scripture
Psalm 139:14
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
You were not made wrong. You were wonderfully made. Speak this over your body today.
Short Teaching
Psalm 139 declares that you were not thrown together by accident — you were knit together by a loving Creator. Every cell, every system, every organ was designed with intention. Autoimmune disease is not God's design. It is a result of living in a fallen world, and God's response to it is not indifference — it is redemption.
Romans 8:11 declares: "If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies." The same Spirit who raised Jesus — the most powerful event in history — lives in you and is actively working life into your body.
Communion is how you align your body with that truth. As you eat the bread, you declare: "My body is being restored from the inside out by the resurrection power of Jesus Christ." As you drink the cup, you declare: "Every system, every cell, every function — redeemed by the blood of the Lamb."
Part One
The Bread
His Body — Broken for Your Body's Wholeness
Bread Declaration
Lord Jesus, I hold this bread — Your body. You took on flesh. You inhabited a body that was tired, that hurt, that was ultimately broken for me. By Your wounds, I am healed. I receive healing for my immune system. I command it to function according to God's design — not attacking what it was made to protect. I declare that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and is being restored by the resurrection power of Jesus Christ.
Receive the Bread
Take the bread. Eat it. Receive wholeness for every system in your body.
Pause here. Take your time.
Part Two
The Cup
His Blood — The Covenant of Complete Redemption
Cup Declaration
Lord Jesus, I hold this cup — Your blood, the blood of the New Covenant. Your blood redeemed me completely — spirit, soul, and body. I plead Your blood over my immune system. I plead Your blood over every inflammatory response in my body. I plead Your blood over every organ, every tissue, every joint. By the blood of Jesus, I declare peace over my body. The war within me ceases in the name of Jesus.
Receive the Cup
Drink. Let the blood of Jesus bring peace to every system in your body.
Pause here. Take your time.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. My body was not a mistake, and autoimmune disease does not define me. I declare that the same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead lives in me and is giving life to my mortal body.
I have taken the bread — receiving the healing that Christ's broken body purchased. I have taken the cup — receiving the peace and redemption of His blood. I leave this Table carrying the truth: my body is being restored. The war within me is ending. Every system, every organ, every cell is coming into alignment with God's design for my body.
Walk with me, Holy Spirit. When symptoms try to tell a different story, remind me of what I received at this Table. I seal this Communion in the precious blood of Jesus. Amen.
