When You Need to Forgive
Forgiveness can feel impossible — but Jesus didn't just command it, He purchased the power for it. Receive His grace to release what you couldn't release on your own.
Welcome, friend.
You know you need to forgive — but knowing and doing are two different things. What they did was wrong. The wound is real. Every time you think about forgiving, you feel the pain afresh and think, "Why should they get off the hook?" You've tried to forgive in your own strength and it didn't stick.
I want you to know today: Forgiveness is not saying what they did was okay. It's saying the Cross was enough. When Jesus said "Father, forgive them," He was not minimizing their sin — He was maximizing His grace. And He purchased that same grace for you. You can forgive because He first forgave you.
Opening Prayer
Father, come near. We bring before You the one who needs to forgive. Give them supernatural grace. Let forgiveness flow from the Cross — not from their own strength. Release them from the prison of unforgiveness. In Jesus' name, Amen.
"Forgive as the Lord forgave you." — Colossians 3:13 (NIV)
And also: "By his stripes we are healed." — Isaiah 53:5 (NLT)
Listen to me: Forgiveness doesn't let them off the hook — it takes you off the hook. Unforgiveness is a prison where you're both the warden and the inmate. It doesn't punish the offender — it punishes you. Jesus purchased the power to forgive from the Cross — not just forgiveness you receive, but forgiveness you can give.
When you take Communion for forgiveness, you're saying: "I receive the grace to forgive that I don't have in myself. I release the debt — not because they paid it but because Jesus did. I trust God to handle justice. And I walk out of the prison of unforgiveness into the freedom of the Cross."

This bread represents the body of Christ — broken while He prayed "Father forgive them." When you receive this bread, you receive the same power to forgive that Jesus demonstrated on the Cross.
Prayer Over the Bread
Jesus, I thank You for Your broken body. I receive supernatural grace to forgive. By Your stripes, the prison of unforgiveness is broken. Thank You. Amen.

Reflection
When Jesus shed His blood, He paid the debt for every sin ever committed against you. The debt is paid in full — you can release it now. When you receive this cup, you receive the freedom of letting go — not because they deserved it, but because the blood settled it.
Prayer Over the Cup
Jesus, I thank You for Your blood. I release the debt — the blood paid it. I release the offender — God will judge righteously. By Your blood, I am free. Amen.
Drink the Cup

Father, I stand before You on behalf of everyone struggling to forgive. Let the grace of the Cross flow through them. Release them from the prison of unforgiveness. Let them walk in the freedom of forgiven people who forgive. In Jesus' name, Amen.
