When You've Lost Your Home
Jesus had no place to lay His head — He knows displacement. He purchased a permanent home for you in the Father's house.
Welcome, friend.
You've lost the place you called home. Whether through financial crisis, natural disaster, eviction, or some other circumstance, the ground beneath you has shifted. Home isn't just four walls — it's security, safety, the place where you rest. And now it's gone. The displacement is physical, but the disorientation is emotional and spiritual.
I want you to know today: Jesus said He was going to prepare a place for you in His Father's house. His first nights on earth were in a borrowed stable. He knew displacement. And He purchased for you a permanent home — in this life and the next. God is your refuge.
Opening Prayer
Father, come near. We bring before You the one who has been displaced. Be their shelter. Be their home. Provide for their physical needs and calm their spirit. Let them know that in You, they are never homeless. In Jesus' name, Amen.
"My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?" — John 14:2 (NIV)
And also: "By his stripes we are healed." — Isaiah 53:5 (NLT)
Listen to me: Your address does not determine your identity. You are not "homeless." You are a child of God in transition. The Israelites wandered 40 years in the wilderness, and God provided manna every morning. He didn't just lead them to the Promised Land — He was WITH them in the wandering.
When you take Communion after losing your home, you're saying: "I release the shame of displacement. I receive God as my shelter and provider. I claim the promise that my true home is in Him. And I declare that this displacement is not permanent — God is preparing a place for me."
The Bread

Please take the bread.

Reflection
This bread represents the body of Christ — the One who had nowhere to lay His head so that you would always have a home in God. When you receive this bread, you receive the security of knowing that your true home is in the Father's heart.
Prayer Over the Bread
Jesus, I thank You for Your broken body. I release the shame of displacement. I receive God as my home. By Your stripes, I am secure — regardless of my address. Thank You. Amen.

Reflection
When Jesus shed His blood, He secured an eternal inheritance for you — a mansion in heaven that can never be foreclosed. When you receive this cup, you receive the promise that your ultimate home is prepared, paid for, and waiting for you.
Prayer Over the Cup
Jesus, I thank You for Your blood. I receive my eternal inheritance. By Your blood, I have a permanent home — in this life and the next. Amen.

Father, I stand before You on behalf of everyone who has been displaced. Provide shelter. Provide provision. Let them feel Your presence as their permanent home. Guide them to their next dwelling place — and let them rest in You along the way. In Jesus' name, Amen.
