When You're Facing Retirement
Your next chapter holds purpose. Jesus purchased a future filled with hope and meaningful work.
Welcome, friend.
You're standing at a major threshold. The career that defined decades of your life is ending — or has ended. You're asking questions like "Who am I without my work?" and "What do I do with the rest of my life?" Retirement can feel like a loss of identity, a loss of purpose, a loss of daily rhythm.
I want you to know today: God still has purpose for your life. The psalmist says the righteous will flourish in old age — still bearing fruit, still fresh and green. Your assignment isn't over. It's just changing shape.
Opening Prayer
Father, come near. We bring before You the one facing retirement. Give them peace about provision. Give them vision for their next chapter. And let them know that their best days of fruitfulness are not behind them. In Jesus' name, Amen.
"They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green." — Psalm 92:14 (NIV)
And also: "By his stripes we are healed." — Isaiah 53:5 (NLT)
Listen to me: God doesn't retire His children from purpose. Your role may change, but your assignment continues.
Moses was 80 when God called him to lead Israel out of Egypt. Caleb was 85 when he claimed his mountain. Abraham was 75 when God launched his covenant journey. The world may tell you you're done — but God says the best fruit can come in the later seasons.
When you take Communion, you're saying: "I release the identity that was tied to my career. I claim purpose for my next chapter. I receive peace about provision. And I declare that I will still bear fruit in every season."

This bread represents the body of Christ — broken so that your life would have eternal significance, not just a career arc. When you receive this bread, you receive the truth that your worth is in Christ, not your title.

Jesus, I thank You for Your broken body. I release the identity that was tied to my work. I claim purpose for my next chapter. By Your stripes, I am positioned for fruitfulness. Thank You. Amen.
