Fact Versus Truth

Learning to Live by What God Says When Life Is Showing You Something Else

Facts Change.Truth Remains.

Your diagnosis is a fact. God's healing covenant is truth. Your bank account is a fact. God's provision is truth. What people said about you is a fact. What God says about you is truth. Both cannot be your final authority.

About This Teaching

There Is a Difference Between a Fact and a Truth

A Fact

  • Is real and verifiable in the natural world.
  • Is subject to change — circumstances shift, tests come back different, situations resolve.
  • Reflects what is visible, measurable, and present right now.
  • Can contradict what God has promised.
  • Does not have the final word.

A Truth

  • Is what God declares — in His Word, in His character, in His covenant.
  • Does not change based on circumstances.
  • Exists whether or not it is currently visible in the natural realm.
  • Is eternal, absolute, and unaffected by time.
  • Always has the final word.

"Your doctor's report is a fact. God's healing Word is truth. Your loneliness is a fact. God's promise of presence is truth. The problem is not that facts exist. The problem is when we allow facts to become our final authority."

What's Inside

This Book Will Meet You in the Hard Place

Fact Versus Truth was written for the person who knows what God has promised but is struggling to hold on to it when everything visible is saying something different.

1

What Is a Fact? What Is a Truth?

A clear, biblical framework for understanding the difference between natural-world facts and eternal-realm truth — and why confusing them is one of the most common sources of unnecessary suffering.

2

When Facts and Truth Are in Conflict

The honest conversation about what happens when what you are experiencing and what God has promised appear to be contradicting each other — and what to do when you are living in that gap.

3

The Stories of People Who Chose Truth

Biblical accounts of men and women who faced devastating facts — and chose to stand on truth anyway. What they did. How they did it. And what happened as a result.

4

The Language of Truth

How to speak truth in the middle of visible facts. The specific, Scripture-based language that keeps your faith rooted when circumstances are pressing hard against it.

5

Waiting Between the Fact and the Manifestation

One of the hardest seasons of faith — the time between standing on truth and seeing it become visible in the natural world. How to hold on, how to wait well, and how to keep going.

6

When God Seems Silent

What to do when the facts are loud and God feels quiet. The difference between God's silence and God's absence — and how to find truth even in seasons that feel like wilderness.

A Word From Pastor Nicole

I wrote this teaching because I have lived it.

There was a season when the facts of my life were undeniable. The medical reports were real. The limitations were real. The losses were real. The facts were not in question.

What was in question was whether I would let the facts have the final word. Whether I would let what I could see in the natural world override what I knew in the Spirit. Whether I would allow circumstances to become my theology.

I had to learn — slowly, painfully, and with a lot of help from the Holy Spirit — that facts and truth are not the same thing. That facts are real but not final. That truth is eternal and it cannot be cancelled by any fact, regardless of how overwhelming that fact appears.

This book is everything I wish someone had told me before I let the facts talk me out of trusting God.
