Prayer for Betrayal

Father, I lift up every person who has been stabbed in the back by someone they trusted. The wound is still fresh. They keep replaying the moment they found out — the text message, the conversation, the discovery, the phone call that changed everything. Their mind keeps asking, "How could they?" and their heart keeps breaking every time they think about it.

Lord, You know this pain intimately. You were betrayed by a kiss from one of Your own disciples. You understand what it feels like to have someone sit at your table, break bread with you, and then sell you out. So I ask You to meet this person in the depth of that pain. Not from a distance — come close. Hold them. Let them feel Your presence in a way that is more real than the betrayal.

Father, I pray against the spirit of revenge. When you have been betrayed, the flesh wants payback. It wants that person to feel the same pain they caused. It wants their reputation to suffer, their life to fall apart, their name to be dragged. But revenge is a trap — it keeps the wounded person chained to the one who hurt them. I pray for release. I ask You to take the desire for revenge and replace it with trust in Your justice. You said vengeance is Yours. You repay. You see what was done in secret, and You will make it right.

Lord, heal the part of this person's heart that now wants to trust no one. Betrayal does not just wound — it rewires. It makes you suspicious of everyone. It makes you second-guess kindness. It makes you wonder what people really want from you. I ask You to gently undo that rewiring. Help this person be wise — yes, wiser than before — but not hardened. Help them learn from what happened without letting what happened define every future relationship.

Father, I also pray for the one who did the betraying. Not with a spirit of bitterness, but with a spirit that wants even enemies to be saved. If there is any possibility of repentance and restoration, open that door. And if there is not, give this person the peace to walk away without looking back. They do not need closure from the one who hurt them — they need closure from You.

Lord, restore the ability to trust. Not naive trust, not trust without boundaries — but a healed, wise, Spirit-led trust that can open up to safe people again. Bring trustworthy people into this person's life. People who will prove over time that they are who they say they are. Let those steady, faithful relationships be the medicine that heals the betrayal wound.

Thank You, Jesus, that You were betrayed so that we could be reconciled. You took the ultimate betrayal and turned it into the ultimate redemption. If You can do that with the cross, You can redeem even this.
