Prayer for Employment
"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans." — Proverbs 16:3
Work is a gift from God — a way to use the talents He gave you, provide for your family, and contribute meaningfully to the world. Whether you are between jobs, underemployed, or simply praying over the work you already have, God cares about your employment. He is the one who positions His people for purpose and provision.
A Prayer for Employment
Gracious Father, I lift my employment to You today. You know the desire of my heart — to work with dignity, to use the gifts You placed inside me, and to provide for myself and those I love. I trust that You see me, You know exactly where I am, and You have good plans for my professional life.
Lord, I confess the discouragement that has crept in during this season. The waiting, the applications that have gone unanswered, and the uncertainty about what comes next have worn on my spirit. Forgive me for the moments I have doubted that You are working behind the scenes, orchestrating the right opportunity at the right time.
Father, I ask You to open doors of employment that no one can shut. Lead me to the position where my skills, experience, and personality will flourish — a place where I can contribute, grow, and be a light for You. Give me favor with hiring managers, interviewers, and decision-makers. Let my resume stand out and my conversations be marked by Your grace.
For those of us who are employed, protect our jobs and give us excellence in all we do. Help us to work as unto You, not as unto people, with cheerful hearts and diligent hands. Guard us from office politics, unfair treatment, and toxic environments. If it is time for a change, give us clear direction and courage to move.
I declare that my work is established by the Lord. I am not panicked, not desperate, and not forgotten — I am positioned by the hand of a loving God who placed Joseph in Pharaoh's palace and prepared a table for David in the presence of his enemies. My career is in Your hands.
Father, thank You that You are already arranging my next assignment. I receive it by faith and commit to honoring You in every workplace You place me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
