Prayer for Freedom from Drugs
"He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains." — Psalm 107:14
Drugs promised escape — relief from pain, a feeling of confidence, a break from reality. But the promise was a lie. What started as a choice became a prison. Your body craves what your soul hates. You have lost things you cannot get back. People have given up on you. Maybe you have given up on yourself. But God has not given up on you. He sees the person beneath the addiction. He knows who you were before drugs took over, and He knows who you can be on the other side. This prayer is for anyone in the grip of drug addiction — asking for deliverance, for the strength to endure withdrawal, for restoration of what has been lost, and for a future that is not defined by this struggle.
A Prayer for Freedom from Drugs
Father God, in the name of Jesus, I come to You in the grip of addiction. I thank You that You are a deliverer. I thank You that You break chains. I thank You that no addiction is beyond Your power to heal.
I acknowledge that drugs have taken over my life. I acknowledge the destruction — relationships lost, trust broken, things I cannot get back. I acknowledge that what started as a choice has become a prison. I acknowledge that I cannot beat this on my own.
I plead the precious blood of Jesus over my addiction. Over the cravings in my body. Over every trigger and temptation. Over the withdrawal that scares me. Over the shame that keeps me hiding. Over every door that drugs have opened to the enemy.
Deliver me from this addiction. Break the physical dependence. Give me the strength to endure withdrawal. Heal the underlying pain that led me to drugs in the first place. Restore what has been destroyed. Surround me with people who will fight for my freedom. Give me a future that is not defined by this struggle.
I commit to pursuing freedom with everything I have. I commit to getting professional help. Thank You that You have not given up on me. Thank You that freedom is possible. I love You. I honor You. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
