Prayer for Hopelessness

Father, I have lost hope. I don't say that lightly. I say it because it's true. I've been fighting, believing, praying, standing — and I'm tired. The situation hasn't changed. The marriage isn't better. The health isn't improving. The finances aren't breaking through. The grief isn't lifting. And I've run out of hope that things will ever be different.

I know I'm supposed to have hope. I know it's one of the three things that remain — faith, hope, and love. But hope feels impossible right now. So I'm not asking for hope in my circumstances. I'm asking for hope in You. Hope that You are still good even when life isn't. Hope that You are still working even when I can't see it. Hope that You will never leave me or forsake me, no matter how dark it gets.

Your Word calls You the God of hope. Not just a hopeful God — the source. The origin. The fountain. So I come to the source because my own supply is empty. Fill me with hope. Not manufactured optimism. Not pretending everything is fine. Real, grounded hope that is anchored in who You are, not in what I see.

Help me see even one reason to hope. One small sign. One tiny shift. One promise I can hold onto tonight. You know what would reach me. Send it. Send a word. Send a person. Send a scripture. Send something — anything — that reminds me You are still in this with me.

And if I can't find hope in my circumstances, help me find hope in the cross. Because the cross looked like the end. It looked like defeat. It looked like darkness winning. But it wasn't. It was the setup for resurrection. If You can turn the worst Friday in history into the best Sunday, You can turn my situation around. Even if I can't see how. Even if I can't believe it right now. Help my unbelief.

Thank You that hope doesn't come from me. It comes from You. And You have enough for both of us.
