Prayer for Our Nation
"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord." — Psalm 33:12
The divisions are real and the pain is deep. We are a people who disagree — often sharply — about almost everything. It is tempting to lose hope when you look at the brokenness around us. But our hope is not in any political leader or party. It is in a God whose Kingdom transcends our national politics. God is not surprised by what is happening. He loves our nation and He can redeem even difficult seasons in our national history. This prayer is for everyone who cares about their country — asking for reconciliation, righteous leadership, and unity that does not require us to be the same.
A Prayer for Our Nation
Father God, in the name of Jesus, I come to You for our nation. I thank You that You love our country. I thank You that You are not surprised by what is happening. I thank You that You can redeem even difficult seasons in our national history.
I acknowledge the divisions. I acknowledge the pain. I acknowledge that people are hurting and angry. I acknowledge that it is tempting to lose hope when we see the brokenness around us.
I plead the precious blood of Jesus over our nation. Over our leaders. Over our people. Over the divisions between us. Over the wounds in our national soul.
I pray for reconciliation — that we can learn to see each other again, that we can disagree without dehumanizing each other. I pray for righteous leadership — people who will choose integrity over power, truth over popularity, justice over expedience. I pray for the vulnerable — the poor, the immigrant, the marginalized. I pray for unity without uniformity.
I commit to being part of the solution. I commit to voting thoughtfully. I commit to treating people who disagree with me with respect. Thank You that our hope is in You, not in any leader. I love You. I honor You. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
