Prayer for Repentance

Merciful Father, I come before You with an honest heart, holding nothing back. Your Word promises that if I confess my sins, You are faithful and just to forgive me and to cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I stand on that promise today. I am not coming to make excuses or to minimize what I have done. I am coming to confess, to repent, and to receive the cleansing that only You can give.

Lord, search me and know my heart. Test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. I confess the specific sins You are bringing to my mind right now — the words I should not have spoken, the thoughts I have entertained, the actions I have taken that dishonored You, the things I should have done but left undone. Forgive me, Father. I do not take Your mercy lightly.

I turn away from every sin that has entangled me. I repent — not just feeling sorry, but changing my direction. I refuse to return to what You are delivering me from. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me from Your presence or take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me.

Father, I receive Your forgiveness right now — not because I deserve it, but because Jesus paid for it. His blood cleanses me from all sin. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. The enemy would love for me to keep carrying guilt and shame, but I refuse to wear what Jesus already bore on the cross. I am forgiven. I am cleansed. I am made new. I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

I ask You to produce in me the fruit of true repentance — a changed life. Let my actions going forward demonstrate that my turning was genuine. Give me accountability, give me wisdom, give me the strength to walk away from environments and relationships that pull me back toward the very things I am leaving behind. I want to live a life worthy of the calling I have received.

Thank You, Father, that Your mercies are new every morning. Thank You that You do not hold my sins against me but have removed them as far as the east is from the west. Thank You that You not only forgive but You also restore — You give back the years the locusts have eaten. I walk forward in freedom, in forgiveness, and in the fresh start You have given me. In the redeeming name of Jesus, Amen.
