Prayer for Retirement

Father God, in the name of Jesus, I am entering a new season — retirement. I thank You for the years behind me. I thank You for the work You gave me, the provision You supplied, the people I served alongside, and the purpose I lived out through my career. I thank You that retirement is not the end of my calling — it is a new chapter of it.

I acknowledge the adjustment. I am untethered from the identity my work gave me. The title is gone. The daily rhythm has disappeared. I do not always know what to do with myself, and part of me wonders if my most meaningful days are behind me. I am struggling to redefine who I am without what I did.

I confess that I have tied too much of my identity to my work. I have let my title define me more than my relationship with You. I have been so busy doing that I have not always known how to simply be. Forgive me for finding my worth in productivity when it has always been in being Yours.

I plead the precious blood of Jesus over this new season — over my finances, over my health, over my relationships, over the purpose You have for me now. Cover my provision in Your faithfulness. Cover my time in Your wisdom. Cover my legacy in Your grace.

I declare that God is not finished with me. I declare that my most fruitful years may still be ahead. I declare that retirement is not a withdrawal from purpose — it is a reassignment. I declare that I have wisdom, experience, and time to pour into what matters eternally.

I commit to stewarding this season well. I will not waste it on passivity. I will invest in people. I will pour into the next generation. I will use the freedom of this season for the Kingdom. Thank You for sustaining me to this point. Thank You for the years ahead. I love You. I honor You. I am Yours — at every age. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
