Prayer for Revival

"Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?" — Psalm 85:6

We can manage programs. We can organize events. We can craft better sermons and better worship sets. But what we really need cannot be manufactured — we need God to come. Revival is when God pours out His Spirit in a way that transforms individuals, churches, and communities. It is not hype. It is not emotionalism. It is the presence of God so thick that people are undone, convicted, healed, and changed. Throughout history, revival has come when God's people prayed. Not when conditions were perfect, but when hunger for God outweighed everything else. This prayer is for anyone who is hungry for more than business-as-usual Christianity — asking God to rend the heavens and come down.

A Prayer for Revival

Father God, in the name of Jesus, I come to You hungry for revival. I thank You that You are a God who pours out Your Spirit. I thank You for every revival in history that shows us what You can do. I thank You that You are not done moving in power.

I acknowledge that we have tried to do in human effort what only Your Spirit can do. I acknowledge that the Church has often been more shaped by culture than by Your presence. I acknowledge that I have settled for less than what You want to give.

I plead the precious blood of Jesus over the Church. Over my heart — that You would stir hunger for more of You. Over every barrier to revival — complacency, sin, distraction, division. Over my city, my nation, and the nations of the world.

Rend the heavens and come down. Pour out Your Spirit in a way that cannot be explained by human effort. Convict us of sin. Heal the broken. Unify the divided. Awaken the complacent. Let revival start with me — change my heart, deepen my hunger, increase my faith.

I commit to praying for revival and not just talking about it. I commit to living in a way that is ready for what You want to pour out. Thank You that You want to move more than we want to be moved. I love You. I honor You. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
