Prayer for Single Parents

"A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling." — Psalm 68:5

Single parenting is one of the hardest jobs in the world. You carry the weight of two people, make every decision alone, and lie awake at night wondering if you're doing enough. But God sees you. He is a Father to the fatherless — and He is a partner to the parent who feels alone. This prayer is for every single mom and single dad who needs to be reminded that you are not raising these children by yourself.

A Prayer for Single Parents

Father God, in the name of Jesus, I come before You as a single parent. I am tired. I am stretched thin. Some days I don't know how I'm going to do everything that needs to be done. But I know You are with me — and I'm asking You to fill every gap I cannot fill.

Today I plead the precious blood of Jesus over my children and over myself as their parent. Cover what I miss. Provide what I cannot provide. Be the other parent in the ways I cannot be. Let my children know they are fully loved, fully covered, and fully parented — not just by me, but by You.

Give me wisdom for the decisions I have to make alone. Give me strength when I'm exhausted. Give me patience when I'm overwhelmed. Give me financial provision — You are Jehovah Jireh, my Provider. I trust You with every bill, every need, every gap.

Heal any wounds my children carry from the absence of their other parent. Protect them from feeling rejected or less than. Let them grow up secure in their identity, knowing that You have always been there.

And Lord — take care of me too. I pour out so much. Fill me back up. Let me not lose myself in the work of parenting. Remind me that I am still Your child, not just a parent.

I love You. I honor You. I give You all the glory. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Confession of Faith

I confess that God is my partner in parenting. I confess that my children are covered. I confess that every need is met according to His riches in glory. I confess that I am enough because He is more than enough.

Declaration

I declare that I am not alone. I declare that my children are blessed. I declare that God fills every gap. I declare that my family is whole in Christ.
