Prayer for Singleness
"The unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to please the Lord." — 1 Corinthians 7:32
Singleness is not a waiting room. It is not a holding pattern before your real life begins. It is not a sign that something is wrong with you or that God is withholding something from you. Singleness is a complete life stage with its own purposes, its own freedoms, and its own possibilities. You are not incomplete. You are not half a person. You are whole — right now, exactly as you are. This prayer is for anyone who is ready to stop waiting for life to start and start living fully in the season God has placed them in.
A Prayer to Live Fully in Singleness
Father God, in the name of Jesus, I come before You embracing my singleness. I thank You that singleness is a gift — not a curse, not a punishment, not a sign that something is wrong with me. I thank You that my life is not on pause. I thank You that I am complete as I am, right now, without a partner.
I confess that sometimes I feel incomplete. I confess that I mourn what I do not have. I confess that I have believed the lie that marriage will fix me, complete me, or finally make my life begin. I release all of that. I reject the idea that I am half a person waiting to be made whole. I stand in the truth that I am already whole because You made me whole.
I embrace the freedom that singleness offers — freedom to pursue You without distraction, freedom to serve, freedom to grow, freedom to discover who I am and what I am called to do. I commit to living fully in this season, not waiting for the next one. I commit to pursuing purposes that matter. I commit to being available to You and to others in ways that might not be possible in a different season.
If marriage is in Your plan for me, I trust Your timing. But I refuse to put my life on hold waiting for it. My life is happening now. This season matters. What I do now matters. Who I become now matters.
Thank You that I am living fully in my singleness — not settling, not waiting, not holding back. I love You. I honor You. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
