Communion as Warfare

Receiving Strength, Healing, and Victory Through the Finished Work of Jesus Christ

For many believers, communion is something they participate in occasionally at church. For me, communion has become a daily reminder of God's love, God's promises, and Jesus' finished work on the cross.

Over the past year, I have personally experienced the power of daily communion in my own life. Through health challenges, dialysis treatments, difficult seasons, and moments when I needed strength beyond my own, communion has become a place of peace, hope, healing, and spiritual strength.

Communion is not a ritual.

Communion is not superstition.

Communion is not a religious obligation.

Communion is a powerful covenant reminder of what Jesus Christ accomplished through His death, burial, and resurrection. Every time we partake, we remember that Jesus paid the price for our redemption. His body was broken so ours could be made whole. His blood was shed for our forgiveness, righteousness, protection, and victory. When we receive communion in faith, we are placing our attention on Jesus and His finished work.

Why Communion Is Spiritual Warfare

The enemy wants believers focused on:

Fear
Lack
Sickness
Condemnation
Defeat
Worry
Circumstances

Communion redirects our focus to Christ. Communion reminds us that:

We are forgiven
We are loved
We are accepted
We are righteous in Christ
We are protected
We are victorious

Communion is warfare because it continually points us back to the cross where Jesus won the victory. The battle is not won by our effort. The battle is won by His finished work.

A Guided Communion for Spiritual Warfare

Before You Begin

  • Take a moment to quiet your heart.
  • Thank Jesus for His love.
  • Thank Him for His sacrifice.
  • Remember that you are coming boldly to a loving Savior who has already secured your victory.

Opening Prayer

Father,

I come to You in the name of Jesus.

I thank You for Your goodness, Your mercy, and Your unfailing love.

Today I remember the finished work of Jesus Christ.

I thank You that through His sacrifice I have forgiveness, righteousness, healing, protection, peace, and victory.

As I receive communion today, help me see Jesus more clearly.

Strengthen my faith. Renew my mind. Encourage my heart.

And remind me that every promise of God is mine through Christ.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

The Bread

Hold the bread in your hand.

Jesus said: "This is My body which is given for you."

Take a moment to remember His sacrifice.

Prayer Over the Bread

Lord Jesus,

Thank You for Your body that was broken for me.

Thank You for taking my sin, my shame, my sickness, my pain, and my burden upon Yourself.

I remember Your sacrifice.

I declare that through Your finished work I receive strength for today.

I receive healing. I receive peace. I receive hope. I receive grace for every challenge I face.

As I partake of this bread, I remember that You are my healer, my provider, my protector, and my Savior.

Thank You, Jesus.

Take and eat.

The Cup

Hold the cup in your hand. The cup represents the blood of Jesus Christ. His blood purchased our forgiveness, righteousness, and covenant relationship with God.

Prayer Over the Cup

Lord Jesus,

Thank You for Your precious blood.

Thank You that Your blood has washed away every sin.

Thank You that I am forgiven. Thank You that I am righteous in Christ. Thank You that I am accepted, loved, and secure in You.

I plead the blood of Jesus over my life, my family, my health, my mind, my future, and every area of concern.

I declare that the blood of Jesus speaks better things over me.

I receive Your protection. I receive Your grace. I receive Your favor. I receive Your victory.

Thank You for the new covenant established through Your blood.

In Jesus' name. Amen.

Take and drink.

Closing Prayer

Father,

Thank You for this time of communion.

Thank You for Jesus. Thank You for His body. Thank You for His blood.

I leave this moment encouraged, strengthened, and confident in Your promises.

No matter what I face today, I know You are with me.

I declare that I walk in peace, favor, protection, healing, wisdom, and victory.

I fix my eyes on Jesus and His finished work.

Thank You that the battle belongs to the Lord.

And thank You that through Christ, the victory has already been won.

In Jesus' name. Amen.
