Covenant Teaching
I Plead the Blood
A Present-Day Teaching on Covenant Covering, Protection, and Faith
Pleading the blood of Jesus is not just a church phrase to me. It is not something I say because I heard older saints say it. It is not a religious habit. It is part of my daily life.
I plead the blood of Jesus over myself.
I plead the blood of Jesus over my dog.
I plead the blood of Jesus over my goddaughter.
I plead the blood of Jesus over her dog.
I plead the blood of Jesus over my home.
I plead the blood of Jesus over my cars.
I plead the blood of Jesus over the people, places, and things God has entrusted to my care.
Now, some people may not understand that. But when you have lived long enough, survived enough, lost enough, fought enough, and seen enough, you understand something: everything connected to your life needs covering. Not worship. Not fear. Not superstition. Covering. Because if God entrusted it to me, I can bring it under prayer.
What Does It Mean to Plead the Blood?
When I say, "I plead the blood of Jesus," I am not treating the blood like a magic phrase. I am not using the name of Jesus like a charm. I am not trying to manipulate God. I am not trying to control life by repeating religious words.
When I plead the blood of Jesus, I am making a faith declaration. I am appealing to the finished work of Jesus Christ. I am declaring that my life belongs to Him. I am declaring that what He paid for still has power. I am declaring that the blood still speaks.
The blood of Jesus speaks forgiveness. The blood speaks cleansing. The blood speaks redemption. The blood speaks covenant. The blood speaks protection. The blood speaks access. The blood speaks mercy. The blood speaks victory.
So when I plead the blood, I am saying: "Lord, I bring this person, this place, this situation, this home, this body, this mind, this journey, this vehicle, this family, and this assignment under the covenant covering of Jesus Christ." That is not superstition. That is faith.
The Blood on the Doorposts
The first picture that always comes to my mind is the Passover. In Exodus 12, God instructed the children of Israel to take the blood of a lamb and place it on the doorposts of their homes. That blood became a sign. When judgment moved through Egypt, the homes marked by blood were spared. God said, "When I see the blood, I will pass over you."
Now let's sit with that. The blood was not hidden in the house. The blood was placed on the entrance. The blood marked the home. The blood identified the household. The blood made a statement before the danger ever arrived. That means before death passed through, the blood was already speaking. Before the threat came, the blood was already applied. Before the night got dark, the house was already marked.
And that is how I see pleading the blood today. I am not waiting until trouble knocks before I pray. I am not waiting until the accident happens before I cover my car. I am not waiting until sickness attacks before I cover my body. I plead the blood because I believe in spiritual preparation. I plead the blood because I understand covenant. I plead the blood because I know the power is not in my words by themselves. The power is in what Jesus already did.
Jesus Is Our Passover Lamb
The blood on the doorposts in Exodus pointed forward to something greater. It pointed to Jesus. Jesus is our Passover Lamb. The lamb in Egypt covered a house for a night. But Jesus, the Lamb of God, shed His blood for eternal redemption.
The blood of animals had to be repeated. But Jesus shed His blood once and for all. His blood did not just cover a door. His blood opened the door back to the Father. His blood did not just protect a household from one night of judgment. His blood brought salvation, forgiveness, deliverance, and eternal life.
So when I plead the blood of Jesus, I am not going backward into old covenant ritual. I am standing in the finished work of the cross. I am remembering that Jesus paid the price. I am remembering that the blood still works. I am remembering that heaven recognizes the blood. Hell recognizes the blood. The enemy recognizes the blood. And my faith responds to the blood.
Pleading the Blood Is a Covenant Declaration
The word "plead" can sound like begging, but that is not how I mean it. I am not begging God to maybe cover me. I am not begging God to maybe protect me. I am not begging God to maybe remember me. I am pleading the blood like someone standing on covenant.
It is almost like legal language. When a person pleads a case, they are making an appeal. When I plead the blood, I am making my appeal to the highest court. I am saying: "My case is not built on my perfection. My case is not built on my goodness. My case is not built on my strength. My case is built on the blood of Jesus."
That is why the accuser cannot have the final word. Because the blood answers accusation. The blood answers guilt. The blood answers shame. The blood answers fear. The blood answers condemnation. The blood answers generational bondage. The blood answers the enemy's threats.
When the enemy says, "She is not worthy," the blood says, "She is redeemed." When the enemy says, "She is guilty," the blood says, "She is forgiven." When the enemy says, "She is uncovered," the blood says, "She belongs to Jesus." When the enemy says, "Her house is open territory," the blood says, "This house is marked."
This Is Not Fear — This Is Faith
Let me say this clearly. I do not plead the blood because I am afraid of everything. I plead the blood because I have faith in Jesus. There is a difference. Fear says, "Something bad is going to happen." Faith says, "Jesus is Lord over my life." Fear panics. Faith covers. Fear is tormented. Faith is anchored. Fear expects destruction. Faith trusts covenant.
So when I plead the blood, I am not walking around paranoid. I am walking around aware. There is a difference between being fearful and being spiritually alert. We live in a real world. We drive on real roads. We live in real neighborhoods. We face real attacks. We deal with real sickness. We encounter real spiritual warfare.
We have real family concerns. We have real pets we love. We have real homes we want protected. We have real assignments we must steward. So I pray real prayers. And one of my real prayers is: "I plead the blood of Jesus."
What I Cover Under the Blood
Why I Plead the Blood Over My Home
My home is not just walls, furniture, and a roof. My home is a place of peace, prayer, recovery, and preparation. So I plead the blood over every door, every window, every room, every entrance, every atmosphere, every conversation, every night of sleep, every person who enters, and every spirit that tries to come near.
Why I Plead the Blood Over My Cars
I plead the blood over my cars because travel needs covering. Every time we get on the road, there are things we can control and things we cannot control. We cannot control every driver, every distraction, every mechanical issue, every road condition. But we can pray.
Why I Plead the Blood Over My Dog and the Animals I Love
Some people may not understand this, but I plead the blood over my dog too. And I plead the blood over my goddaughter's dog. Why? Because love prays. Stewardship prays. Care prays. The Bible shows us that God cares about His creation. He sees the sparrow. He knows what brings comfort, companionship, and joy into our lives.
Why I Plead the Blood Over My Family and Loved Ones
I plead the blood over my goddaughter. I plead the blood over those connected to me. Because love covers. Intercession covers. Covenant love does not just say, "I hope they will be okay." Covenant love prays.
Pleading the Blood Over the Mind
In this day and time, we need to plead the blood over our minds. Because the attack is not always physical. Sometimes the attack is mental — anxiety, fear, confusion, depression, torment, racing thoughts, negative imaginations, old memories, shame, condemnation, mental exhaustion.
Pleading the Blood Over the Body
I also believe in pleading the blood over the body. I know what it means to need healing. I know what it means to pray over organs, blood flow, strength, pain, treatments, symptoms, fatigue, and recovery. And I believe the body belongs to God.
Pleading the Blood Over Finances and Provision
We can also plead the blood over our finances. Not because money is our god. But because our resources are connected to stewardship, survival, purpose, generosity, and legacy.
So I plead the blood over my finances. Over my income. Over my bank accounts. Over my bills. Over my business. Over my ministry resources. Over every seed I sow. Over every obligation. Over every opportunity. Over every place where the enemy would try to drain, devour, delay, or destroy.
Not a Substitute for Obedience
Now let me say this because we need balance. You cannot plead the blood and live any kind of way on purpose.
You cannot plead the blood over your car and drive recklessly. You cannot plead the blood over your finances and refuse wisdom. You cannot plead the blood over your home and keep inviting chaos into it. You cannot plead the blood over your body and ignore every instruction God gives you.
Pleading the blood is not a cover-up for rebellion. It is a covenant declaration that should bring us into alignment. The blood of Jesus is not permission to be careless. The blood of Jesus empowers us to walk in wisdom, obedience, faith, and reverence.
The Blood Still Speaks
Hebrews tells us that the blood of Jesus speaks better things. That means the blood is not silent. The blood still has a voice.
The blood speaks when I am tired. The blood speaks when I am afraid. The blood speaks when the enemy accuses. The blood speaks when danger is near. The blood speaks when sickness tries to rise. The blood speaks when my family needs covering.
The blood speaks when I walk through my house. The blood speaks when I get in my car. The blood speaks when I lie down at night. The blood speaks when I wake up in the morning. The blood still speaks.
And I want what the blood says to be louder than what fear says. Louder than what the enemy says. Louder than what circumstances say. Louder than what my past says. Louder than what the doctor says. Louder than what the bank account says. Louder than what anxiety says. The blood still speaks better things.
A Present-Day Passover Perspective
When I plead the blood over my life, I think about those doorposts. I think about a family inside a house, obeying God, trusting the instruction, believing that the blood was enough. They did not have to fight death at the door. They had to apply the blood. They had to stay under the covering. They had to trust what God said.
And I believe there is a present-day application. We may not be putting lamb's blood on literal doorposts now, because Jesus is the Lamb of God. But by faith, we still mark our homes. We still cover our families. We still pray over our entrances. We still declare that death, destruction, danger, and demonic assignment have no legal access where the blood of Jesus has been applied by faith.
I know that may sound old-school to some people. But some old-school prayers still work. Some old-school faith still carries power. Some old-school declarations still shake hell. And "I plead the blood" is one of them.
What I Am Really Saying When I Plead the Blood
This life belongs to Jesus.
This house belongs to Jesus.
This body belongs to Jesus.
This mind belongs to Jesus.
This family belongs to Jesus.
This car belongs to Jesus.
This assignment belongs to Jesus.
This day belongs to Jesus.
This night belongs to Jesus.
This journey belongs to Jesus.
This space is covered.
This atmosphere is covered.
This door is covered.
This decision is covered.
This relationship is covered.
This ministry is covered.
This future is covered.
I am not uncovered.
I am not unprotected.
I am not abandoned.
I am not exposed.
I am under the blood.
A Daily Prayer for Pleading the Blood
Lord Jesus,
I thank You for the power of Your blood. I thank You that Your blood still speaks. I thank You that Your blood cleanses, covers, redeems, protects, and gives access to the Father.
Today, I plead the blood of Jesus over my life. I plead the blood over my mind, my body, my spirit, my emotions, and my health. I plead the blood over my family, my goddaughter, my loved ones, and everyone connected to my assignment.
I plead the blood over my home. Every door. Every window. Every room. Every entrance. Every atmosphere. I plead the blood over my cars. Every mile. Every road. Every parking lot. Every trip. Every passenger.
I plead the blood over my dog and over the animals connected to my family. I plead the blood over my finances, my resources, my ministry, my purpose, and everything You have entrusted to me.
No weapon formed against me shall prosper. No assignment of the enemy will prevail. No spirit of death, destruction, fear, torment, confusion, theft, sickness, or chaos has permission to operate in what belongs to You.
Lord, give me wisdom. Keep me obedient. Keep me discerning. Keep me covered. Keep me aligned with You. I do not trust in fear. I do not trust in superstition. I do not trust in my own strength. I trust in the blood of Jesus.
And I declare today: The blood still works. The blood still covers. The blood still protects. The blood still speaks.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
Declaration
I plead the blood of Jesus over my life.
I plead the blood of Jesus over my home.
I plead the blood of Jesus over my family.
I plead the blood of Jesus over my body.
I plead the blood of Jesus over my mind.
I plead the blood of Jesus over my possessions.
I plead the blood of Jesus over my coming and my going.
I plead the blood of Jesus over everything God has placed in my care.
I am covered. I am marked. I am protected. I am redeemed.
I am not walking in fear. I am walking in covenant.
The blood is on the doorposts of my life.
And when the enemy sees the blood, he has to pass by.
Closing Thought
Pleading the blood is not just something I say. It is part of how I live. It is how I remember the cross. It is how I bring my life back under covenant. It is how I cover what God has entrusted to me. It is how I declare that Jesus is Lord over everything connected to me.
My home is not uncovered. My family is not uncovered. My body is not uncovered. My mind is not uncovered. My journey is not uncovered. My possessions are not uncovered. My assignment is not uncovered.
I live under the blood. I pray under the blood. I travel under the blood. I sleep under the blood. I serve under the blood. I survive under the blood.
And I will keep declaring it: The blood of Jesus still works.
