Consecration Teaching

Oil, Water, and Salt

A Present-Day Teaching on Anointing, Cleansing, Covenant, and Consecration

There are some things God gives you that may not look traditional to everybody else, but they carry meaning, power, and personal testimony in your own walk with Him.

For me, the anointing oil I use is not just plain olive oil that I have prayed over. It is a combination of olive oil, water, and salt that I have prayed over.

Oil. Water. Salt. Each one carries biblical meaning. Each one has spiritual significance. Each one has a language of its own. And when the Lord placed this combination in my spirit, it blessed me because I could see the fullness of what it represented.

The oil speaks of anointing. The water speaks of cleansing, refreshing, and life. The salt speaks of covenant, preservation, purification, and agreement.

"Lord, let this be consecrated by the anointing, cleansed by Your Spirit and Word, and established under covenant."

Part 1

This Is Not Superstition

Before I go any further, let me say this clearly. This is not superstition. This is not witchcraft. This is not magic. This is not a charm. This is not me trusting in a bottle. This is not me thinking oil, water, or salt has power apart from God.

My faith is in Jesus Christ. My trust is in the finished work of the cross. My authority is in the name of Jesus. My confidence is in the Holy Spirit. The oil, water, and salt are not my god. They are tools. They are points of contact. They are physical reminders of spiritual truth.

So when I use oil, water, and salt, I am not practicing superstition. I am practicing faith. I am declaring what I believe God has revealed through His Word.

Part 2

The Oil: Anointing, Consecration, Healing, and Assignment

Oil is one of the most recognized symbols in Scripture. Oil was used to anoint kings. Oil was used to consecrate priests. Oil was used in worship. Oil was used in healing. Oil was used as a sign that something or someone had been set apart for God's purpose.

When Samuel anointed David, the oil was poured, but the deeper work was spiritual. The Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. That tells me something. Oil can mark a moment where God is setting something apart.

When I anoint myself with oil, I am saying: "Lord, I belong to You." When I anoint my home, I am saying: "Lord, this house belongs to You." When I anoint my car, I am saying: "Lord, this vehicle belongs to You." When I anoint someone I am praying for, I am saying: "Lord, let Your hand rest on this life."

The oil speaks. It says, "This is anointed." It says, "This is not common anymore." It says, "This has been set apart." It says, "The Holy Spirit is welcome here."

Part 3

The Water: Cleansing, Refreshing, Life, and the Spirit

Water is also powerful in Scripture. Water speaks of cleansing. Water speaks of refreshing. Water speaks of life. Water speaks of washing. Water speaks of renewal. Jesus talked about living water. Ephesians speaks of the washing of water by the Word. Ezekiel speaks of clean water being sprinkled and a new heart being given.

When I pray over water and include it with the oil, I am saying: "Lord, cleanse what needs to be cleansed. Wash what needs to be washed. Refresh what has become dry. Let Your living water flow here."

Because sometimes we do not just need anointing. We need cleansing. We need the atmosphere washed. We need the residue of fear washed. We need the residue of confusion washed. We need the residue of grief washed. We need the residue of strife washed. We need the residue of old battles washed.

There are some things that need to be anointed, yes. But there are also some things that need to be cleansed. And when I include water, I am reminded that God is able to wash, renew, refresh, and restore. The water speaks. It says, "Be cleansed." It says, "Be refreshed." It says, "Let life flow again."

Part 4

The Salt: Covenant, Preservation, Purity, and Protection from Corruption

Salt is not just seasoning in the Bible. Salt has meaning. In Scripture, salt is connected to covenant. Leviticus 2:13 says that offerings were to be seasoned with salt and refers to the salt of the covenant. Numbers 18:19 speaks of a covenant of salt. Second Chronicles 13:5 also uses the language of a covenant of salt. Salt represents something lasting. Something binding. Something preserved. Something not easily corrupted.

In 2 Kings 2, the men of Jericho told Elisha that the water was bad and the land was barren. Elisha called for a new bowl with salt in it. He threw the salt into the water and declared healing over the waters, and the waters were healed. That means salt can represent purification. It can represent preservation. It can represent the breaking of barrenness. It can represent covenant.

Jesus also said, "Ye are the salt of the earth." Salt is not weak. Salt affects whatever it touches. Salt preserves. Salt flavors. Salt resists corruption. Salt has impact.

So when I pray over salt and include it, I am saying: "Lord, establish covenant here. Preserve what You have given me. Purify what has been contaminated. Let corruption be stopped. Let barrenness be broken. Let this be seasoned with Your presence." The salt speaks. It says, "This is under covenant." It says, "This is preserved." It says, "This will not rot under the enemy's influence." It says, "God's agreement stands here."

Part 5

Why I Use the Three Together

Oil by itself is powerful as a biblical point of contact. Water by itself carries powerful biblical meaning. Salt by itself carries powerful biblical meaning. But when the Lord gave me the three together, I saw a fuller picture.

The oil says, "Anointed." The water says, "Cleansed." The salt says, "Covenant." The oil says, "Set apart." The water says, "Washed." The salt says, "Preserved." The oil says, "Holy Spirit, rest here." The water says, "Holy Spirit, flow here." The salt says, "Lord, establish Your covenant here."

Together, they preach. They say: "This life is anointed, cleansed, and covered by covenant. This home is anointed, cleansed, and covered by covenant. This body is anointed, cleansed, and covered by covenant. This family is anointed, cleansed, and covered by covenant."

When I Shake It, That Preaches Too

Oil and water do not naturally become one substance. Salt dissolves into water. Oil rests differently. So before I use it, I may have to shake it. And even that preaches to me. Because sometimes what God has given you has to be stirred up. The gift has to be stirred. The faith has to be stirred. The prayer life has to be stirred. The atmosphere has to be stirred. The anointing has to be stirred.

"Lord, stir up what You placed in me. Stir up faith. Stir up prayer. Stir up boldness. Stir up discernment. Stir up healing. Stir up the anointing."

Anointing Myself

When I anoint myself with the oil, water, and salt, I am not just touching my forehead or my hands casually. I am declaring: "My life belongs to God. My body belongs to God. My mind belongs to God. My spirit belongs to God. My emotions belong to God. My assignment belongs to God."

I may anoint my head and say: "Lord, cover my mind." I may anoint my hands and say: "Lord, bless the work of my hands." I may anoint my feet and say: "Lord, order my steps." I may anoint my chest and say: "Lord, guard my heart." I may anoint my body and say: "Lord, strengthen, heal, and preserve me."

Anointing My Home

When I anoint my home, I am making a declaration over the atmosphere. I am saying: "This home belongs to God. This is a place of peace. This is a place of prayer. This is a place of healing. This is a place of rest. This is a place where the presence of God is welcome."

I may anoint doors. Windows. Bedrooms. The kitchen. The living room. The workspace. The place where I pray. The place where I sleep. The entrances and exits. Because doors matter. Windows matter. Atmospheres matter. What comes in matters. What goes out matters. What lingers matters.

This house is anointed. This house is cleansed. This house is under covenant. The oil says, "Holy Spirit, rest here." The water says, "Lord, cleanse here." The salt says, "God, preserve here." And the blood of Jesus speaks over it all.

Anointing Property and Possessions

I also believe in anointing what God has entrusted to me — property, cars, documents, business tools, ministry items, spaces where I work and serve, places I am believing God to protect.

Some people may not understand that. But when you have a stewardship mindset, you pray over what is connected to your life. You do not worship possessions. You do not idolize property. You do not put your faith in material things. But you do cover what God has placed in your care.

If I can pray over a person, I can pray over a place. If I can plead the blood over my home, I can anoint the door. If I can ask God to protect my travel, I can anoint the car. If I can ask God to bless the work of my hands, I can pray over the tools connected to that work.

Anointing People I Pray For

When I anoint people I pray for, I do it with reverence. I do not do it casually. I do not do it to impress anybody. I do not do it without sensitivity.

But when someone allows me to anoint them, I see it as a sacred act of prayer. I am saying: "Lord, touch this life. Lord, let Your anointing rest here. Lord, cleanse what needs to be cleansed. Lord, heal what needs to be healed. Lord, preserve what belongs to You. Lord, bring this person under covenant alignment."

And I believe God honors faith. Not because the mixture is magic. But because faith is being released in the name of Jesus.

The Threefold Declaration

When I use the oil, water, and salt together, I often think of it as a threefold declaration.

By the Oil

Anointing

By the Water

Cleansing

By the Salt

Covenant

And over all of it, I declare the name of Jesus and the blood of Jesus. Because the tool is not greater than the cross. The mixture is not greater than the name. The symbol is not greater than the Savior. Everything must point back to Jesus.

If it does not point back to Jesus, I do not want it. If it does not honor Jesus, I do not need it. But when it is prayed over, consecrated, and used by faith in Jesus' name, it becomes a meaningful tool in my life.

A Present-Day Urban Application

Let me bring this into today. Some of us are not living in ancient Israel. We are living in apartments. Townhomes. Condos. Houses. Subdivisions. Urban neighborhoods. Busy streets. High-rise buildings. Gated communities. Places where sirens pass by. Places where arguments have happened. Places where grief has sat. Places where sickness has visited. Places where children are being raised. Places where bills are being paid. Places where families are trying to survive.

Welcome Here

Prayers for Anointing

The Prayer Over the Oil, Water, and Salt

Lord Jesus, I bring this oil, this water, and this salt before You. I dedicate them to You.

Let this oil represent the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Let this water represent cleansing, refreshing, renewal, and life. Let this salt represent covenant, preservation, purity, and protection from corruption.

I do not trust in the elements themselves. I trust in You. I ask You to sanctify this as a point of contact for prayer, consecration, covering, and faith.

Let every place it touches be reminded that Jesus is Lord. Let every person anointed with it be drawn closer to You. Let every atmosphere where it is used come under the authority of Jesus Christ.

Let fear be broken. Let confusion be silenced. Let heaviness lift. Let peace enter. Let healing flow. Let covenant be established. Let the Holy Spirit be welcomed. And let the blood of Jesus speak over everything this touches.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

A Prayer for Anointing Myself

Lord, I anoint myself today in the name of Jesus. I declare that my life belongs to You. My mind belongs to You. My body belongs to You. My spirit belongs to You. My emotions belong to You. My purpose belongs to You.

Let the oil speak anointing. Let the water speak cleansing. Let the salt speak covenant.

Anoint me for what You have called me to do. Cleanse me from anything that does not please You. Preserve me from corruption, distraction, fear, and spiritual attack.

Cover me in the blood of Jesus. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. Order my steps. Guard my heart. Renew my mind. Strengthen my body. And keep me aligned with Your will.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

A Prayer for Anointing the Home

Lord Jesus, I anoint this home in Your name. This home belongs to You. Every door belongs to You. Every window belongs to You. Every room belongs to You. Every entrance and exit belongs to You.

Let the oil speak anointing over this house. Let the water speak cleansing over this house. Let the salt speak covenant over this house. Let the blood of Jesus cover this house.

No weapon formed against this home shall prosper. No spirit of fear, torment, confusion, sickness, strife, heaviness, or destruction has permission to operate here.

Let this be a house of peace. A house of prayer. A house of healing. A house of wisdom. A house of rest. A house of protection. A house where the Holy Spirit is welcome.

I declare that this home is anointed, cleansed, covered, and preserved under covenant.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

A Prayer for Anointing Property, Cars, and Possessions

Lord, I anoint what You have entrusted to my care. I anoint this property. I anoint this vehicle. I anoint this possession. I anoint this space.

I do not worship things. I worship You. But I ask You to cover, protect, preserve, and bless what is connected to my life and assignment.

Let the oil speak anointing. Let the water speak cleansing. Let the salt speak covenant. Let the blood of Jesus speak protection.

Guard every mile. Guard every entrance. Guard every transaction. Guard every connection. Guard every place this touches my life.

Let there be no theft, no destruction, no accident, no misuse, no demonic interference, and no assignment of the enemy prospering against what belongs to You.

Give me wisdom to steward it well.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Wisdom and Balance

I believe in this deeply, but I also believe in wisdom. We should not make an idol out of any spiritual tool. We should not use anything without prayer. We should not treat anointing as a substitute for obedience. We should not anoint people without sensitivity and permission. We should not place oil, water, or salt where it may damage property, irritate skin, or create harm.

Faith does not cancel wisdom. Faith and wisdom walk together. The power is not in being reckless. The power is in obedience, prayer, and faith in Jesus Christ.

Closing Thought

This oil, water, and salt combination is not just something I use. It is something that preaches to me.

The oil reminds me that I am anointed. The water reminds me that I am cleansed. The salt reminds me that I am in covenant.

And when I use them together, I am reminded that God is concerned with the whole life — the spirit, the body, the mind, the home, the atmosphere, the assignment, the family, the property, the things entrusted to our care.

Not that the bottle has power. But that faith has a voice. Obedience has meaning. Consecration matters. Covenant matters. And everything connected to my life can be brought under the authority of Jesus Christ.

So I will keep anointing. I will keep praying. I will keep covering. I will keep consecrating. I will keep declaring: The oil speaks. The water speaks. The salt speaks. The blood speaks louder than them all. And Jesus is Lord over everything connected to me.
