Why We Do This
The Back-to-School Backpack Project was born from a simple belief: when we invest in children, we invest in the future.
As families across our community prepare for a new school year, many face the challenge of purchasing the supplies necessary for their children to succeed. For some families, the cost of backpacks, notebooks, pencils, folders, crayons, and classroom essentials can create an overwhelming burden.
That is where our community comes together. Through the generosity of donors, volunteers, churches, businesses, and community partners, Nicole Washington Ministries hosts an annual outreach effort dedicated to equipping students with the tools they need to start school prepared and encouraged.
But this project is about much more than school supplies. It is about hope.
It is about letting a child know that someone cares. It is about reminding families that they are not alone. It is about creating opportunities for children to walk into their classrooms feeling confident, valued, and ready to learn.
