Friend, if you are standing at a crossroads — needing wisdom for a decision, direction for the next step, or clarity when everything seems foggy — you have come to the right place. God is not a God of confusion. He is the God who gives wisdom generously to all who ask, without finding fault.
At the Communion Table, you encounter Jesus Christ, who is described in 1 Corinthians 1:24 as "the wisdom of God." The wisdom you need is not a set of principles — it is a Person. And that Person is waiting for you at His Table, ready to give you the clarity, direction, and discernment you need.
When you don't know what to do, you know Who to run to. He promises to guide you.
Why This Communion Matters
Making decisions without wisdom is like driving in fog with no headlights. But God does not leave you to figure life out on your own. He promises to guide you with His eye upon you, to direct your steps, and to give you wisdom from above — wisdom that is pure, peaceable, gentle, and full of good fruit.
The cross is the ultimate demonstration of God's wisdom. What looked like foolishness to the world — God dying on a cross — was actually the most brilliant strategy ever executed. If God can take the worst event in history and turn it into salvation for the world, He can certainly give you wisdom for your next step.

A Word of Teaching
James makes an astonishing claim: God gives wisdom "generously" and "without finding fault." He doesn't roll His eyes at your confusion. He doesn't say "you again?" when you come asking for direction for the hundredth time. He gives freely, abundantly, joyfully. The only condition is that you ask in faith — trusting that He will answer, not doubting His goodness.
Proverbs personifies wisdom as a woman crying out in the streets, at the city gates, at every doorway — wisdom is not hiding. God's direction is not playing hard to get. He wants you to know which way to go more than you want to know. And at the Communion Table, where you remember the cross, you are reminded that God held nothing back — not even His Son. If He gave Jesus, He will certainly give wisdom.
The Bread
Hold the bread in your hand. This bread represents the body of Jesus Christ — the embodiment of God's wisdom. In Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. As you hold this bread, you are holding the wisdom you seek.
The world's wisdom says climb up. The cross says bow low. The world's wisdom says save yourself. The cross says lay down your life. The world's wisdom says the strong win. The cross says the meek inherit the earth. When you receive the bread, you are receiving a complete reorientation of what is true, what is wise, and what will last.
"I receive the body of Christ — the wisdom of God. His wisdom directs my steps, guards my decisions, and leads me in paths of righteousness."
Eat the bread now, receiving His wisdom for every decision before you.
The Cup
Hold the cup in your hand. This cup represents the blood of Jesus — the blood that speaks a better word, the blood that provides clarity when everything else is confusion.
The blood of Jesus cleanses your conscience from dead works to serve the living God. A guilty conscience clouds your judgment. A cleansed conscience clarifies it. When you receive the cup, you are not just receiving forgiveness — you are receiving the ability to hear God clearly, unclouded by shame or condemnation.
"The blood of Jesus has cleansed my conscience. I hear God clearly. His wisdom flows to me without obstruction."
Drink the cup now, and let His blood clear every cloud from your discernment.
Closing Prayer
Father, I come before You today asking for wisdom. I have decisions to make and I don't trust my own understanding. I need Your direction. I need Your clarity. I need to know which path to take. Thank You that You give wisdom generously and without finding fault.
I quiet my own thoughts and listen for Your voice. I lay down my own plans and receive Yours. Guide my steps. Direct my path. Let Your word be a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Open the doors You want me to walk through, and close every door that is not from You.
Thank You for the bread — Christ, the wisdom of God. Thank You for the cup — the blood that cleanses my conscience so I can hear You clearly. I walk forward with confidence, knowing You guide me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
