Prayer for Abandonment

Father, I come before You with an abandoned heart. Someone left. Someone who should have stayed chose to go. And the wound has never fully healed. I carry it into every relationship. I brace for people to leave before they even arrive. I test people to see if they'll stay — and even when they do, some part of me doesn't believe it will last.

But You are not like people. You do not leave. You do not walk away. You do not change Your mind about me. From before the foundation of the world, You chose me. You knew every failure I would commit, every way I would fall short — and You chose me anyway. You're not going anywhere.

Jesus, You understand abandonment. On the cross, You cried out, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" You experienced the ultimate abandonment so that I would never have to. Because You were forsaken, I am never forsaken. The Father turned His face away from You so He would never turn His face away from me.

Heal the abandonment wound, Lord. Not just manage it. Heal it. Rewire my heart to trust. Teach me that not everyone leaves. Help me stop pushing people away to prove that they'll leave — because some won't. And teach me to recognize the ones who will stay.

Most of all, anchor me in Your faithfulness. Not human faithfulness — Yours. Let Your promise that You will never leave me or forsake me become the bedrock under my feet. When people fail — and they will — let me not spiral into abandonment fear. Let me stand on the Rock that cannot be moved.

Thank You, Father, for staying. Thank You for being the God who never walks out, never gives up, never decides I'm too much. Thank You that I am held — not by circumstances, not by the approval of others, but by the grip of a faithful God.
