Prayer After a Funeral
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." — Matthew 5:4
The service is over, the crowd has gone, and the quiet has set in. This prayer is for the days after — when grief settles in and the work of healing begins. You are not alone.
A Prayer After a Funeral
Father God, in the name of Jesus, I thank You that the funeral is complete. I thank You that we gathered to honor the life that was lived. I thank You that You are with us in the days ahead. Today I plead the precious blood of Jesus over my grief, over my family, over the days ahead, over healing, and over God's complete comfort and presence.
I thank You that mourning does not last forever. I thank You for the chance to say goodbye. I thank You for the service that honored your loved one. I thank You for the community that came together. I thank You for memories that will sustain us.
I thank You that we are beginning to heal. I thank You that we have each other. I thank You that we are not alone in our grief. I thank You that time will soften the pain.
I love You. I honor You. I give You all the glory. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
