Prayers for the Medical Team

I bless the hands that care for me. God gives them wisdom beyond their training. Their eyes are sharp and their judgment is clear. They are sustained and strengthened in demanding work. God honors those who serve the sick. Compassion flows through this team. They are protected from burnout and weariness. The right decisions are made on my behalf. God is working through their hands. I am grateful for every person who shows up to help me heal.

Father God, I want to pray for the people who care for me and for people like me.

The doctors who carry the weight of difficult decisions. The nurses who show up shift after shift with energy they sometimes have to dig deep to find. The technicians who perform the same careful procedures day after day and still bring attention to every single one. The administrators who keep everything running so that patients have what they need. The social workers and chaplains who walk into the hardest conversations.

Lord, sustain them.

This work is not easy. It is physically demanding. Emotionally costly. Sometimes heartbreaking.

Give them strength for the long days. Give them wisdom for the complex cases. Give them compassion that does not get worn down by repetition. Give them joy in the victories — even the small ones. Comfort them in the losses — because they carry those too.

Protect their health. Protect their families. Protect their mental and emotional wellbeing.

And let them know — from somewhere, somehow — that what they do matters.

That the person in the chair is grateful.

That the work of healing is holy work.
