Persecuted Christians

"Remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering." — Hebrews 13:3

All around the world, our brothers and sisters in Christ face imprisonment, violence, and death simply for loving Jesus. They worship in secret. They lose their families. They pay the ultimate price. Yet their faith endures — a powerful testimony to a Savior worth everything. This prayer is for them.

A Prayer for the Persecuted Church

Father God, today I lift up my brothers and sisters around the world whose faith costs them everything. I pray for those who worship in secret, who gather in basements and forests and hidden rooms because the name of Jesus is forbidden where they live. I pray for those who have lost their families, their jobs, their freedom — and still they praise You.

Strengthen them, Lord. When the prison walls close in, be their freedom. When the interrogators demand they deny You, give them words that cannot be silenced. When they face the ultimate test, give them peace that passes all understanding.

I pray for their families — the children who watch their parents suffer, the spouses left behind. Protect them. Provide for them. Let them feel Your nearness in the loneliest moments.

Forgive me for how easily I take my freedom for granted. Forgive me for the times I've stayed silent about my faith when it cost me nothing — while they speak boldly and pay with their lives.

Raise up advocates for them. Stir the global Church to remember and act. Let their suffering not be forgotten. And if there is anything I can do — through giving, through advocacy, through prayer — show me and give me the courage to do it.

Thank You that the Church built on the blood of the martyrs cannot be destroyed. Thank You that persecution has never stopped the Gospel — it has only spread it further. Thank You that one day, every tongue, tribe, and nation will worship together in freedom, and no one will ever be persecuted again.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
