Prayer for Worry
"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." — 1 Peter 5:7
Worry is the mind running ahead to tomorrow and trying to solve problems that haven't happened yet. It is exhausting, consuming, and it steals the peace God intended for today. Worry tells you that if you just think about it enough, you can control the outcome — but that's a lie. God invites you to trade your worry for His peace. Not by ignoring your concerns, but by bringing every single one of them to the One who actually holds tomorrow. This prayer helps you do exactly that.
A Prayer to Release Worry
Father, I come before You with a mind that will not rest. My thoughts keep circling the same worries — the job situation, the health concern, the relationship tension, the financial pressure, the children, the future. I wake up worrying and I go to bed worrying, and I'm exhausted.
Your Word tells me to cast all my anxiety on You because You care for me. So I'm doing that right now. I'm not just thinking about doing it — I am actively handing You every single worry, naming each one and releasing it into Your hands.
For the things I cannot control — I release them to You, because You are in control.
For the things I cannot fix — I release them to You, because You are the Healer and Restorer.
For the things I cannot predict — I release them to You, because You already inhabit every tomorrow I'm afraid of.
Lord, teach me to live in today. Jesus said not to worry about tomorrow because today has enough trouble of its own. Give me the grace to focus on what You've given me right now — the breath in my lungs, the provision for this day, the people around me right now. Help me stop borrowing suffering from a future that may never come.
Replace my racing thoughts with Your peace. Slow my mind. Calm my heart. Let me experience what it feels like to trust You — not just say I trust You, but actually live like I believe You are good and in control.
Thank You, Father, that You do care for me. Thank You that I am not alone in my worries. Thank You that You are working all things together for my good, even the things I cannot see yet.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
