Bible Study — Proverbs 18:21

Death & Life

In the Power of the Tongue

Your words are not just words. They're forces creating reality. Choose life.

Your Words Are Creating Your Reality

Real talk: You're speaking your future into existence.

Not in a mystical woo-woo way. But in a real, biblical, practical way. What you say matters. What you declare over yourself matters. What you speak about your situation matters. What words you choose matters.

Because words have power. Spiritual power. Creative power. Power to build or destroy.

This is not positive thinking. This is biblical principle. This is how the universe actually works.

And if you understand this — if you actually harness the power of your words — it changes everything about your life.

The Verse

Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV)

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits."

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue"

Your tongue. Your words. That's where death and life come from. Not from your circumstances. Not from what other people do to you. From what comes out of your mouth. You have the power to speak death or life into situations, over yourself, over others.

"and those who love it will eat its fruits"

The fruits of your words come back to you. What you speak, you eat. Speak negativity? You'll live in a world of negativity. Speak life? You'll live in hope. You're literally consuming what you're speaking.

Personal Reflections

1

What death words have you been speaking over yourself? Can you identify the patterns?

2

What life words do you need to start speaking? What truths do you need to declare?

3

If you spoke life over yourself for 90 days, how would your life be different? What would change?

4

Who in your life needs you to speak life over them? How can you start?

5

What negative words have you believed that you need to reject? What truth replaces those lies?

6

What future are you speaking into existence? Is it the future you actually want? If not, what do you need to change?

Closing Prayer

Father God, I thank You for the power of my words. I thank You that death and life are in the power of my tongue. Help me to understand the power I have. Help me to guard my speech. Help me to speak life over myself, over my family, over the people around me. Help me to break negative patterns by speaking truth. Help me to declare victory even before I see it. Help me to believe what I'm saying. Help me to transform my life by transforming my words. Help me to speak my future into existence. And help me to use my words to build others up and call out their potential. In Jesus' name, Amen.
