Power & Authority

2 Timothy 1:7 changes everything. God did not give you a spirit of fear. The word is timidity — that shrinking-back, apologizing-for-your-existence posture. Instead, He gave power (the Greek dunamis — explosive, miraculous power), love (the kind that lays down its life), and a sound mind (self-discipline, self-control). You were not designed to live small. You were designed to walk in Kingdom authority.

What This Looks Like

The enemy wants you afraid. Afraid of what people think. Afraid of failure. Afraid you don't have what it takes. But 1 John 4:4 settles it: the One in you is greater than the one in the world. You don't have to manufacture power — you have to remember whose Spirit lives inside you. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is already resident in you.

What to Do

1. Renounce fear as a spirit, not a personality trait. God didn't make you timid — timidity is not humility.
2. Speak with authority. Your words carry weight. Declare what God says about your situation.
3. Stop shrinking. The world doesn't need a smaller version of you. It needs you fully alive in Christ.
4. Remember whose power is at work. It's "his power that is at work within us" — not your effort, His enablement.
5. Believe for more. God is able to do immeasurably more than you can ask or imagine. Let your faith match His ability.
6. Overcome. You have already overcome because the Greater One lives in you. Walk like it.
