Prayer for the Domestic Violence Survivor

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." — Psalm 46:1

Domestic violence shatters what should be a place of safety. It leaves physical scars and invisible wounds on the soul. But God is your Deliverer. He sees what was done. He hears your cry. And He is leading you out — into safety, into healing, into the life He always intended for you. This prayer is for every survivor: those who have already left, those who are still there, and those who are just beginning to find the courage to get out.

A Prayer of Deliverance

Father God, my Refuge and my Strength, I come to You from a place that was supposed to be safe but has been anything but. You know what has happened — in the rooms where no one else could see. You heard every word. You saw every blow. And You have been my shelter even when I didn't feel it.

Lord, protect me. Give me the courage to leave — or if I have already left, give me the strength to stay away and not return to what nearly destroyed me. Surround me with people who will help, not judge. Open doors of provision — safe housing, financial resources, legal protection — that I could not open myself.

Heal the trauma my body still holds. Calm the fear that spikes every time I hear a raised voice or a slammed door. Restore my ability to feel safe — in my own home, in my own skin, in my own life.

I forgive the one who hurt me — not because what they did was okay, but because I refuse to let them have power over my heart any longer. I release them to You, God, the only righteous Judge.

I declare that I am not a victim. I am a survivor. And I am becoming more than a survivor — I am becoming an overcomer through Christ who strengthens me. What the enemy meant for evil, God is turning for my good.

I receive Your peace — peace that surpasses understanding. I receive Your love — love that never fails. I receive Your protection — the shield of faith that extinguishes every flaming arrow.

I am walking out of the darkness and into the light. I am reclaiming my life. I am finding my voice. And I am doing it with the God who has never left my side and never will.

In the mighty name of Jesus, my Deliverer, Amen.
