This Isn't Depression
Nicole Washington · NYW Legacy Group · Nicole Washington Legacy Collection (LC-04)
Every prayer in the book, gathered in one place — the four back-matter prayers, the release prayer that closes each chapter's "Lay This Down," and the Prayer of Salvation.
These prayers walk you through naming your burden, setting it down, letting yourself be carried, and finally releasing every weight you were never assigned to hold.
Back-Matter Prayers
TID-BM1: A Prayer to Name It
Father, I've been calling it nothing for so long. Today I want to tell the truth.
I lost something, and it hurt, and I never let myself grieve it.
Help me say its name.
Meet me in the naming, and begin to heal what I finally have the courage to hold.
In Jesus' name, amen.
TID-BM2: A Prayer to Set It Down
Lord Jesus, You said Your burden is light, so I know the weight that's been crushing me was never Yours to give.
I've been carrying loads You never assigned.
Right now, one by one, I hand them back to You.
Take them. Teach me to walk unburdened.
Amen.
TID-BM3: A Prayer for When You Can't Pray
Lord, I don't have the words.
I'm tired, and my prayers have gone quiet.
Thank You that Your Spirit is praying inside me even now, in groanings too deep for words.
Carry what I can't say. I'm still here, and I'm still Yours.
Amen.
TID-BM4: A Prayer to Be Carried
Jesus, You wept before You fixed anything, so I know You are not in a hurry to rush me.
Walk me through this valley — not around it.
When I am at the end of myself, send me rest, and send me people, and remind me that reaching for help is one of the ways You hold me.
Amen.
Chapter Release Prayers — Lay This Down
TID-C1: Lay Down Proving Your Pain
Father, I lay down the burden of proving my pain.
You already see it. You already believe me.
I don't have to earn my own grief.
I receive Your nearness instead.
In Jesus' name, amen.
TID-C2: Lay Down Cruel Names
Holy Spirit, Comforter, I lay down every cruel name I have called myself.
Tell me the truer one.
I trade condemnation for Your peace.
In Jesus' name, amen.
TID-C3: Lay Down Unwitnessed Grief
Father, I lay down the burden of the unwitnessed grief.
You saw all of it.
I don't have to hold the record anymore.
I let You be my Witness.
In Jesus' name, amen.
TID-C4: Lay Down the Life You Planned
God of hope, I lay down the life I planned.
I trust the path You are walking me down.
Fill the gap with Your peace, by Your Spirit.
Amen.
TID-C5: Lay Down Who You Were
Holy Spirit, I lay down the pressure to be who I was.
Grow me into who I am becoming.
I trust Your gentleness with the change.
Amen.
TID-C6: Lay Down Shame for Your Body
Father, I lay down the shame for this body.
Thank You that Your Spirit dwells in me exactly as I am.
Meet me here with Your healing and Your nearness.
Amen.
TID-C7: Lay Down the Performance
Father, I lay down the performance.
I stop pretending in Your presence.
See me in the lonely place, and be my comfort there.
Amen.
TID-C8: Lay Down Striving to Earn Love
Abba, Father, I lay down the striving to earn love.
I receive that I am already Your child, already home, already Yours.
Amen.
TID-C9: Lay Down Closure You Keep Chasing
Father, I lay down the closure I keep chasing.
I forgive, I release, and I trade the ending I wanted for the peace only You can give.
Amen.
TID-C10: Lay Down the Lie of a Wasted Life
Father, I lay down the lie that I wasted my life.
I trust You to redeem every season, even the ones that felt like nothing.
Complete the good work You began in me.
Amen.
TID-C11: Lay Down Witnessing Your Life Alone
Father, I lay down the burden of witnessing my own life alone.
You saw every unmarked loss and kept every unseen tear.
I rest now in being fully known.
Amen.
TID-C12: Lay Down Performance of Gratitude
Father, I lay down the performance of gratitude.
I bring You my honest 'how long' and my quiet 'I trust You,' and I let both be my prayer.
Amen.
TID-C13: Lay Down the Gavel
Father, I lay down the gavel.
I stop condemning what You have already forgiven.
I trade the spirit of fear for the Spirit of adoption.
Amen.
TID-C14: Lay Down the Lie That the Valley Means Failure
Father, I lay down the lie that the valley means I failed.
I trust that You are with me in the low place, and I receive Your peace as my evidence.
Amen.
TID-C15: Lay Down Being the Strong One
Father, I lay down the burden of being the strong one.
I rest — not because everything is finished, but because You are carrying what I cannot.
Amen.
TID-C16: Lay Down Performance of Prayer
Father, I lay down the performance of prayer.
I stop striving to be heard.
I trust the Spirit praying in me and the Son praying for me, and I simply come.
Amen.
TID-C17: Lay Down the Burden of Hiding
Spirit of truth, I lay down the burden of hiding.
Help me name what I have been carrying, plainly and without shame.
Lead me into the freedom on the other side.
Amen.
TID-C18: Lay Down the Burden of Secrecy
Father, I lay down the burden of secrecy.
Give me one safe person, and the courage to be seen.
Let me be carried to You.
Amen.
TID-C19: Lay It All Down
Jesus, I lay it all down — the grief, the burdens, the weight I was never assigned.
I give You the whole load.
I receive Your rest, Your peace, and Your life.
Walk me forward from here, unburdened and free.
Amen.
The Prayer of Salvation
TID-SAL: The Prayer of Salvation
Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me.
I believe that Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe He died on the cross for my sins and rose again so that I could have eternal life.
Today I place my trust in Jesus alone as my Lord and Savior.
Thank You for forgiving me. Thank You for making me new. Thank You that I am now Your child.
Jesus, I receive Your gift of salvation, Your righteousness, Your peace, and Your life.
Help me to grow in Your love and to follow You all the days of my life.
I declare that Jesus Christ is Lord. I am saved. I am forgiven. I am loved. I belong to God.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
