Prayer for Trauma Recovery
"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." — Psalm 147:3
Trauma leaves marks that aren't always visible — on the mind, on the heart, on the body, and on the spirit. But God is in the business of restoration. He does not rush your healing, and He does not shame you for the scars. This prayer is an invitation to bring every broken piece to the Healer who makes all things new.
Prayer for Trauma Recovery
Father God, I come to You with the weight of what happened to me. I don't have the words to explain it all, and I don't have the strength to fix it on my own. But You know. You saw. And You are here.
Lord, heal the places in me that are still hurting. The memories that still have power over me. The triggers I cannot control. The fear that settles into my body without warning.
I ask You to restore my mind. Calm the racing thoughts. Quiet the anxiety. Give me sleep that is deep and restorative. Help my body to unlearn the tension and hypervigilance it has carried for so long.
God, I forgive the person or people who caused this harm. Not because what they did was okay — it was not. But because I refuse to let them live rent-free in my heart any longer. I release them to You, the righteous Judge.
I declare that I am not what happened to me. I am not my trauma. I am a child of God — redeemed, loved, and being restored. What the enemy meant for evil, God is working for my good.
Give me patience with myself in this process. Help me to accept help from others. Lead me to the right counselors, the right community, the right resources. And when I feel like I'm not making progress, remind me that healing is not linear — and that You are with me every step of the way.
I believe that You are the God who makes all things new. And I trust that You are making something beautiful out of these ashes. In Jesus' name.
