Prayer for Widowers

Father God, my Rock and my Fortress, I come to You carrying a grief that feels too heavy to name. The woman I loved — my wife, my partner, my best friend — is gone. And I am left trying to figure out how to do life without her.

Lord, be my strength when I have none. I'm used to being the strong one, the provider, the one who fixes things. But this — this I cannot fix. I cannot outwork grief. I cannot logic my way through loss. So I'm asking You to carry what I cannot.

Help me navigate the roles she used to fill — the emotional heartbeat of the home, the keeper of relationships, the one who remembered everything. Give me wisdom for parenting alone, for managing a household that feels half-empty, for maintaining relationships I used to rely on her to nurture.

Give me men I can be honest with. Help me to not isolate. Tear down the walls of "I'm fine" that I've been taught to build. Let me find brothers who will sit with me in the grief without trying to fix it or rush me through it.

God, help me to honor her memory while still moving forward. Not to forget — never to forget — but to carry her with me into whatever comes next. And if there is a new chapter — new purpose, new love, new life — prepare me for it. Not to replace her, but to continue living fully, as she would have wanted.

Most of all, remind me that I am not alone. You are with me. You have not abandoned me. And the same God who got me through every hard thing before this will get me through this too.
