Prayer for Wisdom
"If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." — James 1:5
Wisdom is not hidden. She sits at the gate and waits to be found by those who seek her early. She is more precious than gold, more beautiful than the sun, and she comes to all who ask with a sincere heart. Solomon asked for her above wealth, power, and long life — and God gave him all of it. The prayers on this page are for every decision that needs clarity, every crossroad that needs direction, every heart that longs for the wisdom that comes only from the throne of God.
A Prayer for Wisdom
Father, I come before You on behalf of every person who needs Your wisdom — wisdom for decisions, wisdom for relationships, wisdom for work, wisdom for life.
Lord, Your Word says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. So I ask first: deepen this person's reverence for You. Let them not live casually before the God of the universe. Let holy awe be the foundation upon which every wise decision is built.
I ask for wisdom that goes beyond human intelligence. The wisdom of this world is earthly, unspiritual, demonic even — but the wisdom from above is first of all pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. I ask for THAT wisdom. Let it mark every decision, every conversation, every response.
Father, give this person wisdom that sees beyond the surface — wisdom that discerns motives, wisdom that reads between the lines, wisdom that spots the enemy's traps before stepping into them. Give them the wisdom of Solomon — not just to judge between two mothers, but to navigate the complex, messy situations of everyday life with supernatural insight.
I pray for wisdom in speech — knowing when to speak and when to be silent, what to say and what to leave unsaid, how to speak truth in love without crushing the hearer. Let their words be seasoned with grace and truth in perfect balance.
Thank You, Father, that wisdom is not reserved for the elite or the educated. Thank You that You give it freely to anyone who asks. Thank You that wisdom is a Person — and His name is Jesus, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. In Jesus' name, Amen.

From the Book of Wisdom of Solomon, Chapter 9
God of my fathers, and Lord of mercy, who hast made all things with thy word, and by thy wisdom hast appointed man, that he should have dominion over the creature that was made by thee — give me wisdom, that sitteth by thy throne, and cast me not off from among thy children.
For I am thy servant, and the son of thy handmaid, a weak man, and of short time, and falling short of the understanding of judgment and laws. For if one be perfect among the children of men, yet if thy wisdom be not with him, he shall be nothing regarded.
Send her out of thy holy heaven, and from the throne of thy majesty, that she may be with me, and may labour with me, that I may know what is acceptable with thee. For she knoweth and understandeth all things, and shall lead me soberly in my works, and shall preserve me by her power.
For who among men is he that can know the counsel of God? or who can think what the will of God is? And who shall know thy thought, except thou give wisdom, and send thy Holy Spirit from above — and so the ways of them that are upon earth may be corrected, and men may learn the things that please thee. For by wisdom they were healed, whosoever have pleased thee, O Lord, from the beginning. Amen.
