Opening Question
Has anybody ever said they love you and then made you doubt it?
By their actions. By their absence. By the way they treated you.
So now when someone says "I love you," you have to wonder: Do they really?
And that's the question so many people ask about God.
Does God really love me?
God Proved It First
Here's what changes everything:
God didn't just say He loves you. He created you.
Think about that for a second.
Love isn't just words. Love is action. Love is creation. Love is making something that matters to you.
Listen to what Genesis tells us:
GENESIS 1:27
"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."
You are made in God's image.
Not because you earned it. Not because you proved yourself. Not because you did anything to deserve it.
Because God loved you first.
The Greek word for love is agape — it means unconditional, sacrificial, self-giving love. Not love based on what you do or who you are. Love that gives regardless.
That's how God created you.
Creation Is Love
Think about it. God didn't have to create you.
God was complete. God was whole. God didn't need anything from you.
But God wanted you to exist. God wanted you to be here. God went through the act of creation — shaping you, forming you, breathing life into you — because of love.
That's not obligation. That's not duty.
That's love.
PSALM 139:14
"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well."
You are wonderfully made.
Not by accident. Not by chance. Wonderfully. Intentionally. With care.
God looked at you before you were even born and said: "I want this person to exist."
That's love.
God's Love Didn't Stop
And here's the thing: God's love for you didn't stop at creation.
God keeps loving you. Even when you mess up. Even when you turn away. Even when you forget about Him.
Listen to what Jesus said:
JOHN 3:16
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
God loved the world so much that He gave His Son.
His own Son. For you.
That's not the love of someone who's lukewarm about you. That's not the love of someone who's keeping their distance.
That's all-in, completely-committed, willing-to-sacrifice love.
What Love Looks Like
So let me tell you what God's love looks like, because it might be different from what you've experienced:
God's love shows up.
God is present. God doesn't abandon you when things get hard.
God's love listens.
God cares about what matters to you. God hears your prayers.
God's love protects.
God doesn't let you be destroyed by things you can't handle alone.
God's love teaches.
God wants you to grow and become who you were created to be.
God's love forgives.
No matter what you've done, God is ready to forgive if you ask.
God's love is patient.
God doesn't give up on you. God keeps loving you while you figure things out.
That's the love God has for you.
Not the love that says "I'll love you if you're perfect."
The love that says "I love you. Period."
The Answer
So does God really love you?
Yes.
God proved it by creating you.
God proved it by loving you through your whole life.
God proved it by sending Jesus to save you.
God is proving it right now by making this message available to you.
Because God wants you to know:
You are loved. Completely. Unconditionally. Forever.
Not because of what you do.
Because of who you are.
You matter to God.
Reflection Questions
- What does God's love feel like to you right now? Safe? Distant? Unfamiliar?
- Has anyone else's love made you doubt love itself? How does God's love challenge that?
- If you really believed God loves you unconditionally, how would your life change?
A Prayer
Father, I'm learning that You love me. Help me believe it. Help me feel it. Help me know it in my heart, not just in my head.
Forgive me for doubting Your love. Forgive me for listening to lies that said I'm not worth loving.
Help me understand that because You created me, I am valuable. Because You love me, I am enough.
I receive Your love today. I accept it. I believe it.
Thank You for loving me first. Thank You for never stopping.

Declarations to Hold Onto
Say these out loud. Let the truth of them sink into your heart.
- God created me on purpose. I am not an accident. I am not a mistake.
- God's love is not based on my performance. He loves me. Period.
- God proved His love by sending Jesus. That is how much I matter to Him.
- God's love is patient and kind. He doesn't give up on me while I figure things out.
- Nothing can separate me from God's love. Not my past. Not my mistakes. Not other people's failures.
- I am wonderfully made. God looked at me and wanted me to exist.
- I am loved completely, unconditionally, and forever.
