You are welcome here — whether you are standing at the threshold of a new chapter with excitement, or you are being pushed into a new season you did not choose. Whether this new beginning is a fresh start after loss, a career change, a relocation, a new relationship, or simply a deep sense that God is doing something new in your spirit — this Communion Service was prepared for you.
New beginnings can be exhilarating. They can also be terrifying. The Israelites stood at the edge of the Promised Land with both wonder and fear. The past — even a difficult past — is at least familiar. The future is unknown. But God does not call you into the unknown without going before you. He who is making all things new is also the One who holds your future in His hands.
"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?" — Isaiah 43:18–19
Why This Communion Matters
Communion is a meal of transition. Jesus instituted it on the night before His death — the ultimate transition from the old covenant to the new, from the shadow to the substance, from the law to grace. Every time we take Communion, we are participating in the greatest new beginning in history: the death of the old and the resurrection of the new. This meal is perfectly suited for anyone standing at the threshold of a new season.
The bread declares that the old has passed away — your past mistakes, failures, and regrets were crucified with Christ. The cup declares that the new has come — a new covenant, a new identity, a new life flowing from the blood of Jesus. You cannot move forward while clinging to the past. Communion helps you release what was and embrace what God is doing now. It is a physical act of spiritual transition.
Primary Scripture
Isaiah 43:18–19
"Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."
2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"
Read these verses again — slowly. Let them open your eyes to the new thing God is doing.
Short Teaching
Isaiah 43 is written to a people in exile — a people whose past was glorious but whose present was ruins. The temple was destroyed, Jerusalem was rubble, and they were captives in Babylon. In the middle of that desolation, God speaks a word that must have sounded impossible: "Forget the former things. Don't dwell on the past. I am doing a new thing!"
Notice what God does not say. He does not say "pretend the past never happened." He does not say "the former things don't matter." He says "do not dwell on them." Don't live there. Don't let the past become your permanent address. The Exodus was glorious — but God has something new. The temple was magnificent — but God is building something greater. Your past — whether successful or painful — is not the full story. God is the God of new things.
And what does this new thing look like? "I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." God does not just promise a new destination — He promises provision for the journey. The wilderness between your past and your future will not defeat you. God is making a way through it. The wasteland of uncertainty will not leave you thirsty. God is bringing streams. Whatever new beginning you are facing, you are not facing it alone.
Part One
The Bread
His Body — Broken So the Old Could Pass Away
Prayer Over the Bread
Lord Jesus,
I hold this bread, and I remember Your body — broken for me. In Your death, the old covenant was fulfilled and the new covenant was established. The old way of striving, earning, and falling short was nailed to the cross. A new and living way was opened through Your broken body.
I release my past to You now. I release the failures that play on repeat in my mind. I release the regrets that haunt me at 3 a.m. I release the successes I have been clinging to as my identity. I release the relationships that are over. I release the seasons that have ended. I release the old version of me that I keep trying to resurrect. It is dead and buried with Christ. I am not going back to dig it up.
Thank You that the old has gone. I am not who I was. I am not bound by what I did or what was done to me. I am a new creation in Christ, and I receive that newness fully today. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.
Receive the Bread
Take the bread now. Eat it slowly. As you do, consciously release the past and receive the death of the old — making room for the new thing God is doing.

Part Two
The Cup
His Blood — The New Covenant for Your New Season
Prayer Over the Cup
Lord Jesus,
I hold this cup, and I remember Your blood — the blood of the New Covenant. This is not the old covenant of law and striving. This is the new covenant of grace and life. Your blood was poured out so that I could walk in newness of life — not just forgiven but transformed, not just pardoned but made new.
I receive the new season You are leading me into. I receive the way You are making in the wilderness. I receive the streams You are bringing in the wasteland. I don't need to know every detail of the journey ahead. I just need to know that You are leading it. Your blood is the guarantee that You will finish what You started. The covenant cannot be broken. The promise cannot fail. The new thing You are doing cannot be stopped.
I step into this new beginning with faith, not fear. With expectation, not anxiety. With hope, not dread. The God who made a way through the Red Sea is making a way for me. The God who brought streams from a rock is providing for me. I am not entering this new season alone. The blood of Jesus goes before me, covers me, and guarantees the outcome.
Thank You, Jesus, for the new covenant in Your blood. I receive my new beginning today. Amen.
Receive the Cup
Drink now. As you do, receive the fullness of the New Covenant — new life, new grace, new mercy, new beginnings, and a future secured by the blood of Jesus.

Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for this time at Your Table. Thank You that You are the God of new beginnings — not just once, but over and over. Your mercies are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness. You are doing a new thing in my life, and I choose to perceive it. I choose to stop dwelling on the former things and start looking for the new thing springing up.
I leave this Table with my face toward the future and my past nailed to the cross. I am not carrying the weight of my old mistakes into my new season. I am not dragging my old identities, my old fears, or my old failures with me. The old has gone. The new has come. I am a new creation in Christ, and I am stepping into the new thing You are doing.
When the way seems unclear, remind me that You are making a way. When the journey feels dry, remind me that You are bringing streams. When fear tries to pull me back toward the familiar, remind me that the Promised Land is ahead — and You are already there, preparing the way.
In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
