Making Amends

Father God, I need to make something right. I hurt someone — with my words, my actions, or my neglect — and I can't just move on without addressing it. The thought of that conversation makes my stomach tighten. I don't want to have it. But I know I need to.

Give me the courage to initiate. Help me to go to them — not waiting for them to come to me, not making excuses, not hoping it will just go away. Reconciliation matters to You, so it must matter to me.

Give me the right words. Help me to say "I was wrong" without adding "but you..." Help me to own my part fully — not deflecting, not minimizing, not justifying. Let my apology be clean and clear: I hurt you. I'm sorry. Will you forgive me?

Give me the humility to accept their response — whatever it is. They may forgive me immediately. They may need time. They may not be ready to forgive at all. My job is to make amends; their response is between them and You. Help me to make peace with whatever comes back.

Where possible, help me to make restitution — not just words, but actions that demonstrate change. Let this not be just an apology, but a turning point. Help me to learn from this and not repeat the same hurt again.
