New Year After Tragedy

Father God, a new year is here — and I don't feel ready for it. Everyone else is celebrating, making resolutions, and talking about fresh starts. But I'm still carrying the weight of what happened last year. The tragedy, the loss, the disappointment — it didn't expire when the calendar changed.

I bring You the unresolved grief I'm carrying into this new year. I bring the questions that still have no answers. I bring the pain that didn't heal just because December ended.

But I also bring a fragile hope. You promised You are doing a new thing. You promised that Your mercies are new every morning — and that includes January mornings. Help me to perceive what You are doing even when my vision is blurred by tears.

I don't need a resolution this year, Lord. I need restoration. I don't need a fresh goal — I need fresh grace. Show me that this new year is not a demand to "move on" but an invitation to move forward with You.

I place this year — all 365 days of it — into Your hands. I don't know what it holds. I don't know how I'll get through it. But I know You will be with me, and that is enough.
