Prayer for Suicide Loss

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." — Psalm 34:18

Losing someone to suicide is a grief unlike any other — layered with shock, unanswered questions, anger, guilt, and a depth of sorrow that words cannot reach. This prayer is for you. God is not afraid of your questions. He is not distant from your pain. He is near, and He holds both you and your loved one in His hands.

A Prayer for Those Left Behind

Father God, I come to You with a heart that is shattered. Someone I love is gone — and the way they left has left me with questions I cannot answer and pain I cannot describe.

Lord, You know the darkness they were in. You saw what I could not see. You heard the battle that was raging inside of them. And I trust that You — who are rich in mercy — met them in that moment with arms wide open.

I release my loved one into Your hands. I release the questions I will never have answered on this side of heaven. I release the guilt that whispers I should have done more, said more, been more.

God, comfort me in the way only You can. Hold me when the grief crashes like waves. Sit with me in the silence when there are no words. Give me grace for the anger, space for the tears, and strength for the days ahead.

Help me to remember my loved one not by how they died but by how they lived — the laughter, the love, the moments that were real and good and true.

And Lord, for anyone reading this who is considering ending their own life — I pray You would break through the darkness. Send someone. Send hope. Let them know that their story is not over and that they are deeply, completely loved.

I choose to trust You, even when I don't understand. I choose to believe that You are good, even when life does not feel good. And I hold onto the promise that one day You will wipe every tear from my eyes.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
